The US Embassy in Slovakia disagreed with the words of the head of the Slovak government, Robert Fico, that Ukraine is under American control. A message published on the diplomatic mission’s Facebook page (activities in the Russian Federation are prohibited) notes that in the event of aggression towards Slovakia, the United States, like other NATO allies, would defend the country.
The United States welcomes the meeting between Prime Minister Robert Fico and Prime Minister Denis Shmygal and recognizes Slovakia’s continued support for Ukraine. However, the United States categorically rejects Prime Minister Fico’s assertion that Ukraine is a state under US influence. Such statements are unworthy of a NATO ally,” the message says.
Earlier it was reported that Fico wants to inform his Ukrainian colleague Denis Shmygal of his intention to block Ukraine’s entry into NATO. The politician is confident that if Kyiv joins the Alliance, the foundation for a third world war will be laid. At the same time, he added that Slovakia is ready to help Ukraine in the humanitarian sphere, but the country will refuse to provide weapons.
Earlier, the Foreign Relations Committee of the US Senate almost unanimously supported a bill that would involve the transfer of Russian-frozen assets to Ukraine. The text of the document states that the United States will provide additional assistance to Ukraine at the expense of Russian assets confiscated not only from the Central Bank, but also from sovereign entities.
