The court sentenced former Rostekhnadzor inspector Sergei Vinokurov to five years in prison for trying to hide improper inspections of the Listvyazhnaya mine before the accident, which resulted in the death of 51 miners, TASS reports. Since he is a defendant in another criminal case of bribery, his total prison term will be six years. The convicted person will serve his sentence in a general regime colony.

The accident at the Listvyazhnaya mine in the Kemerovo region occurred on November 25, 2021, at a depth of 250 meters. What happened at the mine became one of the largest tragedies in this industry. As a result of the emergency, 51 people died: 46 miners and five mine rescuers.
