Providence Day has many skilled players as they aim for their third consecutive North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association state championship.
Led by 2022 North Carolina Mr. Football, Jadyn Davis, who was exceptional last year, throwing for 3,425 yards with 43 touchdowns and only six interceptions, the Chargers begin the season as the top-ranked team in High School Football. The list of the top 10 high school football teams in North Carolina, proudly backed by NFL Play Football.
Davis is well-protected by offensive tackle David Sanders, who is ranked as the 7th best college football prospect in the Class of 2025.
The Chargers, led by Davis and Sanders, will face an early test on August 19 when they play the first high school football game at Bank of America Stadium, the home of the Carolina Panthers. Their opponent will be nationally-ranked Northwestern from South Carolina, who is ranked at No. 133, while Providence Day is ranked at No. 128 in our Preseason Top 300 national rankings.
Hough High School is ranked at No. 2 in our statewide rankings, based on our special algorithm. Grimsley, the 2022 4A runner-up, follows at No. 3, and Mallard Creek and Weddington take the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, respectively.
