Lobos Come Back After Being Behind by 13 Points, but Lions Win in Texas High School Football Week 1 Game
In McKinney, Texas, something exciting happened. McKinney’s team played against Longview’s team in the opening game of the Texas high school football season.
At first, McKinney was winning, but then Longview caught up and got 13 points to tie the game. But in the end, McKinney had the final answer to win the game. Cole Dauper kicked a field goal from 27 yards away with only 1 minute and 26 seconds left. This made the score 23-21 in favor of McKinney, and they won the game.
Before this, Longview managed to take the lead with a score of 21-20 when there were exactly 9 minutes left. Their quarterback, Andrew Tutt, threw a long pass for 74 yards, and Dakaylen Reese caught it and scored a touchdown. Then, John Monsivais kicked an extra point, and Longview was winning by just one point.
McKinney’s team moved close to the middle of the field. They did really well and managed to keep going even on a difficult fourth try. Their quarterback, Jeremiah Daoud, ran for 15 yards and got the team to Longview’s 13-yard line. This helped set up the kick that won the game by Cole Dauper.
Later on, with only 1 minute and 6 seconds left, McKinney’s player named Ashton McShane got the ball back for their team by getting a turnover.
At one point, the Lobos from Longview were losing 20-7, but they started to do better. Taylor Tatum, a player who is going to play for Oklahoma later, took the ball and ran really fast for 64 yards to score a touchdown. This made the score 20-14, and it happened with about 4 minutes and 27 seconds left in the third part of the game.
After a while, Longview’s team got ahead for the first time in the game. There were exactly 9 minutes left to play. Their quarterback, Andrew Tutt, threw the ball really far for 74 yards, and Dakaylen Reese was wide open to catch it and score a touchdown. Then, John Monsivais kicked the extra point, and the Lobos were winning by just one point.
At the start of the game, it was McKinney’s turn to score. They got the ball because the other team had a problem when trying to kick the ball. This made McKinney start really close to the other team’s goal, at the 6-yard line. They played well and scored a touchdown just two plays later. Khali Best ran around the right side and got 9 yards to score, and Cole Dauper kicked the extra point. This gave the Lions a 7-0 lead, and this all happened just 2 minutes and 40 seconds into the game.
The Lions then got 14 points with only 5 minutes and 50 seconds left in the second part of the game. It was Godspower Nwawuihe who ran 19 yards and scored a touchdown.
But after that, Longview’s team also scored. They did this the next time they had the ball. Taylor Tatum, who is really good at throwing the ball, threw a 31-yard pass and Dakaylen Reese caught it and scored a touchdown. This made the score 14-7, and the Lobos were catching up.
Later, Nwawuihe scored another touchdown. He ran for 4 yards and got into the end zone. This happened because the Lions got the ball back from Longview after they made a mistake. But the extra point after the touchdown hit the left post and bounced away. This made the score 20-7, and McKinney was still winning by 13 points.
