A special flight from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations with Russian citizens evacuated from the Gaza Strip arrived in Moscow, the department’s press service reported. The Il-76 plane landed at Domodedovo airport with 33 Russians on board.
33 of our compatriots arrived in Russia, 14 of them are children,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations said in a statement.
The department also clarified that a total of 1,158 Russian citizens along with their families were evacuated from the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations sent 20 tons of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip earlier. A special board with provisions, medicines, and clothing for the local population was sent to the Egyptian city of El-Arish. The humanitarian mission is carried out by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin and on instructions from the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov.
On December 19, Israeli Ambassador to the Russian Federation Alexander Ben Zvi reported that Hamas fighters were still holding three people with Russian citizenship. The diplomat clarified that in total there are about 130 people captured by the Palestinian movement.
One of the first Israeli hostages freed by the Palestinian group Hamas, Yocheved Lifshitz spoke about the terrible conditions in which the prisoners live. As the woman stated, there is not enough air in the tunnels, and there is also not enough medicine and food. According to her, all hostages must be released urgently, otherwise they will not survive.
